Mid-November Updates

 Hello, all! If you haven't blown away, please take a peek below at what we have going on in our Team Legacy 7th-grade core courses! 

Science 

Students are finalizing their work on the Cell Division unit with learning target #3 being due on Wednesday, November 13th, and show project conferencing due Wednesday, November 20th. We have decided to continue to ask students to practice conferencing with a peer before meeting with us to ensure they can communicate their mastery of the content and that their show project contains the required materials from all three learning targets from this unit. 

 

Next unit will be on Genetics and will become available towards the end of this week – due dates TBD. 

 

Social Studies 

This week, students will be wrapping up our learn folders on the Revolutionary War. Some key topics include "Key Battles", "Life as a Soldier", "Roles of Women and African Americans", and "How the Colonists Won".  We have been researching these topics through WebQuest as well as some group article read-throughs!  

Starting Wednesday, 11/13, students will be completing a show project to highlight what they know about these topics. There will be a whole surplus of choice options for them to do so (a grand total of 8) So everyone will have at least 1 thing they are interested in completing!  

 

ELA

Students are two weeks into the Learn Folder for Unit 2. Students should be through the first quarter of their book for the first. Students will be tracking the theme of their book and finding textual evidence to support the theme. We will also be practicing using the claim, evidence, and reasoning paragraph format. We will do example paragraphs during the Learn portion of the unit and students will then be asked to write their own paragraphs using this format. The roadmap has been attached below for each week.  

 

Math

Learners are wrapping up their first section of chapter 3 this week and taking a quiz on Wednesday, 11/13. This section focused on how to graph and interpret points in a proportional relationship. The second and final section of this chapter will cover data analysis and probability. The Section 2 quiz is scheduled for next Thursday, 11/21.
